Jan Jans

Mr. dr. drs. Jan A. Jans is a specialist in financial regulatory law. He has a strong focus on the regulatory framework covering payment service providers (including in-depth knowledge of PSD2, EMD2 and the Interchange Fee Regulation), banks, investment firms and investment funds. Prior to joining Regulatory Counsel I Financial Services as partner in 2022, Jan Jans has been working as a financial regulatory lawyer at various (international) law firms in the Netherlands.

Jan Jans graduated from Nijmegen University in 2008. In addition to law, he studied financial economics and business administration. He completed the post-academic education Securities Law at the Grotius Academy in 2012. In 2023, Jan Jans successfully defended his PhD thesis on the level playing field between banks and non-banks in the European market for electronic payments.
